The photo artist Ewa Pszczulny focuses on "her" protagonists in a highly aesthetic and at the same time performative way: delicate, wilting flowers and leaves become the main protagonists in a stage-like space.
In her pictorial compositions, she gracefully places the individual blossom at the centre of an artificial staging. The flowers are photographed in isolation, sometimes we see the bud, the stamen or sepals, sometimes the stems are still visible to some extent.
Perhaps it is her focused gaze, her meticulous approach, the paused, dissecting view that fascinates us again and again and transports us into a quiet, atmospherically charged world of images. Unlike many representatives of contemporary photography, who generate a digital world on the computer, Ewa Pszczulny relies on the compositional power of her visual world. She arranges, makes small things appear very large, sometimes humorously, always with a loving eye for detail and challenges our associative imagination with every view.
