Jonah Gebka
Jonah Gebka is a painter based in Munich, Germany. He studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and the Helsinki Academy of Fine Arts in Finland. Drawing on everyday observations as well as found imagery, Gebka’s paintings are concerned with the sense of isolation and performativity that permeates intimate spaces and routines of Western societies.
He has received support from various German institutions at both local and national levels, including a travel grant to the US by the State of Bavaria. Gebka‘s works are part of the Collection of Contemporary Art of the Federal Republic of Germany and have been exhibited at various institutions and galleries in Germany and abroad, including Strobe, New York; the Staatliche Graphische Sammlung in der Pinakothek der Moderne, Munich; Display Gallery, London; Kunstraum Ortloff, Leipzig; Salon der Gegenwart, Hamburg; and Kunstverein München.
