Jonas Bechtloff

In Jonas Bechtloff's sculptural works, the specific material and aesthetic properties of ceramics play a decisive role. This material, in which the intention of the artist seems to be inscribed directly, intuitively and without ado into the material, is accompanied by surfaces that very clearly bear witness to the touch of the maker. In these works, Bechtloff highlights the haptic and the tactile as indispensable conditions of our cognitive ability, which are made visible and tangible at the interface between the dispositifs of nature and technology as the basis for artistic desire for expression and the human urge to explore.
