Pour les Rats
A gaze that fleetingly attempts to pierce through the dense layers of paint applied to it. Faces that are melting, abstracted, distorted. It is precisely this contrast between proximity and alienation, the search for the earthly familiar within the unknown, that brings Lucky Zrinyi's paintings to life. It is not uncommon for a deep black background to attempt to prevent the motifs from emerging, to keep them captive. In his compositions, conflicts are played out that can be found in the everyday reality of his generation. The restriction of one's own freedom, the realisation of the limits of seemingly universal human control, the powerlessness in the face of the powerful, and at the same time the experience of resocialisation, the regaining of one's own autonomy. The result is a ambivalent state of phasic security and insecurity, which can displace each other at any moment. It demands that one stand up for a secure future, rebel against resistance, and find security within uncertainty. Zrinyi's paintings tell the unfolding story of personal resilience and acceptance that shapes the lives of many young adults.
