The General in Particular

on the painting of Charlotte Acklin

(Excerpt)

...old familiar orders start to sway or lose their relevance, maybe even their purpose. Within the artist these perceptions and insights condense into a new form of expression, she feels that the simplicity of an order can no longer be maintained. The disturbing is in the world. Here once again the subtlety of Charlotte's painting reveals itself. Everything aggressive, abrupt, rebellious is absent. While every gesture is exactly placed, each individually reacts constantly to the emerging structures, which give her painting a new urgency caused by random interruptions. Interruptions, which find their way upwards from within the artist and the work and from deeper and unexplored layers.
